Listening to What Flows Beneath brought sounds collected along the Xindian River back to residents of a social housing community.

Through wireless headphones and sight-restricted listening, participants encountered the river without relying on visual recognition. Water, urban low frequencies, aquatic life and upstream landscapes gradually became personal environments shaped by memory, imagination and bodily sensation.

After listening, residents shared stories that had surfaced - fragments of childhood, family, migration, dreams and places once inhabited. The river became more than a geographical presence; it emerged as an undercurrent flowing through individual and collective memory.
